Wellbeing Economy

The New Strategic Paradigm for Finland

At our events, companies, non-governmental organizations and public sector actors meet, share their views, and explore solutions to the biggest global challenges of our time, both locally and internationally. At the same time, they take collective steps toward functional, effective, and long-term changes. This will be clearly evident at the May event.

The Frontline Forum, which will take place in Helsinki in May 2025, is one of the year's most significant events for wellbeing economy developers and influencers. The symposium, organized in collaboration with the Institute of Health and Welfare (THL), will present the results of the Building a knowledge-based wellbeing economy in Finland -project. These results offer new solutions for guiding and monitoring sustainable well-being.

Why is this event special?

The goal of wellbeing economics is to balance social, economic and ecological sustainability – not only in the present but also with future generations in mind. THL's report emphasizes that sustainable well-being depends on:

  • Securing adequate resources for the future
  • Strengthening social justice in decision-making.

The event will provide concrete tools and methods for the practically implementing the wellbeing economy. This includes introducing a new control model and wellbeing indicators designed to enable monitoring and evaluation to support informed decision-making.

Target groups and participant benefits

This event is designed for everyone involved with sustainable well-being and its evaluation, including:

  • Universities and research institutes
  • Public sector actors, such as ministries and wellbeing services counties
  • International organizations
  • Think tanks
  • Media

As a participant, you will have the chance to network, share expertise, and exchange ideas on integrating the principles of wellbeing economics into decision-making, both in Finland and globally.

Inspiration from international experiences

At the symposium, the lessons learned from the international workshop organized by THL and OECD in Paris in November 2023 will be discussed. During the workshop, experts from Sweden, Iceland, the Netherlands, Italy, Scotland, Wales, New Zealand, Canada, and Ireland explored long-term solutions for advancing the wellbeing economy.

The shared conclusion was clear: "Good decision-making" bridges administrative branches, considers long-term effects, and maintains a well-being perspective despite political changes."

The May event will explore how strategic resource and information governance can lay the foundation for sustainable well-being goals that extend beyond election cycles. Through thought-provoking speeches, participants will gain deeper insights into wellbeing economy indicators and future operating models that integrate economic, social and ecological sustainability.

What does the event offer?
